On a somewhat related note: Amit Pitaru has been conducting some fascinating research on the intersections of game studies and disability studies. Although I haven't had a chance to check it out yet, his article "E is for Everyone" presents his research on how games like Tetris provide play spaces that are beneficial for helping children with disabilities develop socialization, communication, self-reliance, and self-esteem skills.
